FA Trophy 1st Round Qualifying
310 hopefuls have been reduced to 291 after the 19 First Round Qualifying games that took place last weekend. I was lucky enough to witness the encounter between Hashtag United and Chipstead which resulted in a comfortable 4-1 for the visitors from Surrey. They now head to Aylesbury United on Saturday 9th October. See my report here.
There were 18 other ties, seven of which were decided by penalties. The most eye-catching scoreline was Sporting Khalsa’s 6-5 win over Dereham Town – that’s 6-5 in normal time not after penalties!
Aside from Chipstead, only two sides won away from home in normal time. Willand Rovers ran out 2-1 winners at Wantage Town while Daventry Town secured a place in the 2nd Round Qualifying with a 1-0 win at Stamford AFC.
The next round takes place on Saturday 9th October. There are 69 ties taking place around the country. The weekly review will be taking a look at those next week.
