Welcome to the first FA Trophy Weekly Review. There is only one more weekend to go before the 2021-22 FA Trophy kicks off.
There are only 19 ties in the First Round Qualifying, although I prefer to call it the First Qualifying Round. I’m following this year’s competition all the Wembley, starting at Hashtag United vs Chipstead on Sunday 26th September.
Although I’ll be focusing on Hashtag United’s game and then the winners of that tie in the next round, I’ll be keeping an eye open on the other 18 ties. Indeed, next week, I’ll be walking you through the 18 fixtures, so that you can learn more about what might unfold.
One intriguing tie is Pontefract Colleries against Yorkshire Amateur (note: singular not plural). Extraordinarily, Pontefract’s key striker is called Davy Lamp while Leeds-based, Yorkshire Amateur, must represent the whole of Yorkshire with a name like that.
So, for this week’s homework, the task is to find out where Willand Rovers, who travel to Wantage Town in the First Round Qualifying (or is it First Qualifying Round, I forget?), come from. A £5 Amazon will be awarded to the last person to enter correctly before the Willand Rovers tie kicks off. Just send a message on the www.fatrophy.co.uk contact page.
There are piles more stuff on the main website, so take a good look around. And, I promise, no adverts.
Get ready for next week’s bumper Review Week 2.
